Mollie McDonagh (WRENS) and Ian Millar Garrioch (Scots Guards) wartime stories

Mollie McDonagh was from Derry, Northern Ireland. She worked in the civil service in Liverpool before the war. She joined the WRENS and travelled to Wales. Mollie enjoyed the war and prided herself on her mathematical skills, particularly in relation to missile capabilities and specifications.

Ian Millar Garrioch was from Orkney. He was a forestry student in Edinburgh before the war. He joined the Scots Guards and was captured in Anzio. He was a POW in East Germany, working in a cement factory at Stalag 113 XIA. At the end of the war, Ian was picked up by the Americans in a plane.

Ian and Mollie met in London in 1957 and were later married.
