Memory of an Uncle She Could Never Meet

online resource
posted on 2024-06-05, 20:04 authored by Their Finest Hour Project Team

The contributor shared memories of her uncle who was a prisoner of war in Burma. His name was Samuel Edgar Thompson. He was born in 1908. He was the eldest of the children in his family.

He served in the military police in his previous service with East Lancashire Regiment (Second Battalion) and rejoined forces in 1940. In 1942, he was taken prisoner and, sadly, he died of dysentery on 7th August 1943, aged 35.

Although the contributor never met him, she wants to keep his memory alive.
