Memories of the War - Sidney George Wood

online resource
posted on 2024-06-05, 18:20 authored by Their Finest Hour Project Team

One of Sidney's duties was to take Japanese Prisoners of War to clear the jungle near the camp for Mosquito clearance. My father always joked that the prisoners were issued with machetes when all he had was a baton.

From what he tells they got on well with the Japanese sailors. One of them would draw pictures on Sid's handkerchiefs which I still have.
