Memories of the War - Janet Christine Anderson

online resource
posted on 2024-06-05, 19:51 authored by Their Finest Hour Project Team

My mother, Janet Christine Anderson (nee Holloway), was 13 years old when the war started. She volunteered through the Girl Guides, and helped at a commercial kitchen for evacuees in Wallingford, mainly washing up. She also volunteered at St Johns ambulance. She also helped by taking evacuees to their new homes; she found this was sad because the evacuee children were upset at leaving their families. An evacuee, Rosella, stayed with Janet and her family.
A biography of Janet is in an image, no 6.
