George Paskett born 1922, joined Royal Navy in 1935 on HMS Ganges. Served throughout the war, leaving in 1935 as CPO (Chief Petty Officer?). Last surface ship was HMS Sheffield at the time of Bismarck sinking in May 1941. He transferred to submarines afterwards. After VE day, they sailed to the Far East; by coincidence, contributor's wife's father, Major Douglas Hamilton Sidders MC, of the SBS, was transported by the submarine the contributor's father served on, though they didn't know each other at the time. He was in the RWF. (Royal Welch Fusiliers?) Maj Sidders citation for the MC was served by Mountbatten. His father received the MC in WWI; he was then known as LT Leonard Sidders. Jennifer (wife of contributor) remembers her father coming home in 1946 after VD and being annoyed at this strange man sharing mother's bed. Her mother was in the ATS (Auxiliary Territorial Service) as a 2nd LT until she fell pregnant. She was Mildred Marion Reeves, born 1921.
