Memories of my grandfather Alexander Fyfe Hastie

online resource

My grandfather, Alexander Fyfe Hastie, was in the Seaforth Highlanders. He "died" in a prisoner of war camp, Stalag 8B on 22nd July 1943, having been captured at St. Valery. At home he left behind my Gran, my mum and her twin sister, at the time, aged 10. The pictures are of letters he wrote to my mum from the camp and of his funeral which took place within the camp. I also have a letter from the Red Cross listing his belongings at the time of his death together with a note from a friend of his and from the camp doctor. He is now buried in Durnbach War Cemetery.
