The contributor's parents met during the war. Both were in the Women's Auxiliary Air Force (WAAF). They married after the war. Her father was colour-blind. Nothing much was told by either parent after the war. He made spitfire out of sixpences and pennies. Her mother worked on operation exchange. She opened up to her family later to write a book. The contributor's uncle was a prisoner of war in Japan- they never spoke about it.
