Frank Terry was called up for his National Service, then became a Pilot Officer in the Lancaster planes during the war. He was shot down over Belgium and was killed.

He lived in Darnley Road, Strood, and he went to the Maths School. His brother said to me that when he came home, he asked his dad if could go higher, but he had to keep low in the Lancasters which made him an easy target. His dad was in the police, a sergeant, and he tried to get him into a higher plane but wasn't successful.
