Memories of North Africa

online resource

Albert was in 3/Bn Welsh Guards and served in North Africa and Italy 1941-5. This is a collection of letters sent home from AJB starting in September 1940. Collated into months by Nyrex wallet. He transferred to North Africa in February 1943 and maintained a prodigious correspondence thereafter. We have selected for photographing a letter (undated) in which Bert refers to his letter possibly being censored - due to contents. This suggests its from the early stages of his military career abroad. Also selected for photographing is the coloured wall chart showing a timelines of Bert's military career.
