My youngest uncle, Jack Weaver, was born in 1924; he joined the Royal Navy at the age of 15, then was posted to HMS Revenge before being posted to HMS Repulse.

Together with HMS Prince of Wales sailed from Singapore to the east coast of Malaya where they were sunk in an attack by Japanese aeroplanes.

Jack survived the sinking and was rescued and returned to Singapore where he was captured by the Japanese when they invaded.

He was sent to work on the infamous Burma railway, where he died of dysentery and malnutrition on 12/07/1942.
