Utilizing film clips and video from the early 20th century to the present, the course provides a selected review of important topics in public health, medical institutions, and the professions of medicine and nursing. Consequently, students will become familiar with historical and social factors that have helped shaped medicine in the 20th century. Elective only. It forms part of a larger project titled Post-Discipline: Literature, Professionalism, and the Crisis of the Humanities, led by Dr Merve Emre with the assistance of Dr Hayley G. Toth.
