Owen signed up for the war joining the Royal Engineers. I think he mentioned Flanders. I did not really recognise my father when he came home. He never spoke about the war after it was finished. He was not injured.

He was allowed the Normandy Campaign medal but he did not want to go and get it. However, his wife did!
