Born in 1934, house was bombed in an air raid. Father was in RN.

Evacuated to Aldbourne, remembers being frightened by any noises at night. Listen to the radio to pass the time. Remembers deprivations at Christmas (fake icing on the cake). Eventually trained as a nurse.
