Lorna Lloyd was a 25-year-old schoolmistress living in Malvern when the war broke out in September 1939. From 1st September that year until January 1941, she kept a diary that detailed the progress of the war and life under wartime conditions in England. The diary entries are very well written, reflecting Lorna's privileged middle-class upbringing and education. (She studied English at Girton College, but did not graduate because Cambridge did not award degrees to women in the 1930s.)

In 2019 we posted Lorna's war diary entries to a photo-sharing website against the dates of 80 years earlier. The journal starts at https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/2614509852868739975.

In 2022 we created an 8-episode podcast series with the war diary entries at its core. The first episode is found at https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/diary-of-the-war-episode-1/id1634417446?i=1000569787128
