Little Ships of Dunkirk

My grandfather, John Adams, later a sub-Lieutenant in the Navy, had two Thames Cruisers which were requisitioned by the Admiralty to support the Dunkirk evacuation. John insisted on sailing one of them. He was an experienced sailor but became lost in the fog and never made it. John later worked with the US Army, we think on civil engineering projects. He was a qualified civil engineer and built housing projects before the war, including around the Robin Hood Roundabout at New Malden on the A3.
