Life on a Hospital Ship

online resource
posted on 2024-06-05, 19:51 authored by Their Finest Hour Project Team

Father took photos as a hobby through the war. He was on a Hospital ship, mainly in the Pacific Ocean. He was an electrician on HMS Jerusalem (see below). The ship had several tasks including collecting prisoners of war from Japan and China when the war ended. The ship was built as a cruise liner but was converted into a hospital ship. (Note: Research and the photos show that the correct spelling and designation of this ship was "HMHS Gerusalemme")
