Letters from the Front: Correspondence of Great Uncle Ern

online resource
posted on 2024-06-05, 18:14 authored by Their Finest Hour Project Team

My great uncle Ern was in the Heavy Anti Aircraft Regiment in action in Europe after D-Day. He wrote these letters to my father and his brother who were staying in a small farm cottage in Eaton Hastings, now Oxfordshire. My father remembers the American troops giving him chewing gum near the Coleshill Estate, and land girls working on the farm.
