My father, Leonard Collingwood was born on 19 March 1898. He fought in both world wars. He volunteered at Devonport for the Royal Navy in 1913 at the age of 15 (Boy Seaman).

During WW1 went on Atlantic Convoys. One of the sailors smuggled a parrot back. He was once 'hypnotised' in the mess and woke up in the cells.

During WW2, went to Hamburg. The German population was starving - he took food from his ship to feed German children.
