Leonard Fuller - Home Guard

The contributor’s husband, Leonard Fuller (b. 1925), was in the Home Guard. They had to cover a large area on the downs (Compton), and to help, local farmers would be mounted. Once, a German plane was shot down and locals surrounded the pilot with pitchforks.

During the war, he worked as an agricultural labourer and was excused from military service.
