Learning Inequalities Widen Following COVID-19 School Closures in Ethiopia
This text discusses the impact of pandemic-related school closures in Ethiopia, particularly on disadvantaged students. It presents emerging evidence from RISE Ethiopia, highlighting the disproportionate effect on the most vulnerable populations. The research, conducted by the REAL Centre at the University of Cambridge, reveals that while dropout rates were lower than expected, learning levels have significantly declined, with a widening gap between rural and urban areas.
