Kingston Down Grave 4

The tumulus about two and a half feet high; the grave about three feet deep: plain signs of a coffin: skeleton lying due east and west: the head of a pilum, dart, or javelin, on the right side, pretty much like that described at No. 3: some nail-like bits of iron. At the feet, and on the outside of the coffin, was a wrought urn of coarse black earth, broken when found, and the sherds placed one within another. I judge it would have held near a gallon. It certainly had been an ossuary or bone urn, as many scattered bits of burnt bones were found.
