Card 1: Silver-gilt circular brooch, set with shell and garnets, diam. 4.1cm. Rounded edge with 'light-and-shade' pattern, then a band of double row nielloed triangles. In centre a domed boss of white substance, stained green, and with hole in centre where once was a garnet setting. This boss encircled by beaded gilt wire. Radiating from boss are three wedge-shaped cells set with flat garnets on chequered gold foil. Between these, set towards rim , are narrower wedge-shaped cells with white stuff stained green. Flanking them are chip-carved spiral motifs, and inside them parallel ridges. The spiral motifs occasionally beads with eyes and open jaws, at least one of each pair does.
