Kentish disc brooch

Card 1: Silver gilt disc brooch, diam. 3.6cm. Light and shade decoration on rim, inside this a border with four rectangular cells set with garnets and white stuff, and between incised parallel lines and stylized animal heads. Inside this a chip-carved ridge, and then the central setting of a boss of white stuff with flat garnet disc in top, and plain silver collar encircles with beaded silver wire, and radiating from it four wedge shaped cells with garnets, and between them chip-carved panels with variation on the pattern of paired helmet heads. On back a simple pin catch and the pierced lug for the missing spring coil and pin.Card 2: Circular fibula with garnets and ivory set in bronze gilt. On breast. Diam. 3.6cm.
