Silver-gilt disc brooch (Leeds Class Ib). Diam 4.2cm. Central round cell with domed boss of white shell with small cabochon garnet in beaded collar on top, and beaded collar (probably wire soldered) around base. Three radiating wedge-shaped cells with small wedge-shaped garnets on chequered gold foil set in frame of white shell. In between, set nearer rim, 3 elongated wedge-shaped cells, one set with garnet, the other two with yellow glass(?). Flanking these secondary cells, pairs of semi-circular stylised heads, facing outwards, and linked below by simple grooves. Whole enclosed by chip-carved ridge, inside flat rim with two rows of nielloed triangles, and rounded rim with 'light-and-shade' ornament, i.e. plain sections alternating with long and short lengths of beading. Rim somewhat worn, most of niello missing. On back usual simple pin-catch and attachment for missing pin.
