Silver-gilt jewelled disc-brooch (Leeds Class 1d). Diam. 5cm. Circular central cell with beaded wire collar has boss of white shell, with small cabochon garnet in beaded wire collar. Around this two chip-carved concentric ridges, then 4 round and 4 stepped cells alternating, garnets in stepped, little shell bosses in round, all of which have holes where cabochon garnets are now lost out. Between each cell, and arranged in pairs flanking the circular ones, are chip-carved knots. Around this two ridges, then a band with shallow cells alternating short with garnets, and longer originally with white shell but settings mostly now lost. The rim has light-and-shade work. All garnets set on gold foil with no visible pattern. Brooch scarcely worn. On back usual simple catchplate, iron spring-coil on usual attachment, pin missing. Scored grooves matching contour of boss and central ridges, in centre.
