Silver gilt circular brooch (Leeds Class Ia), diam. 2.8 cm. Circular central setting filled with white paste, three radiating wedge-shaped cells with flat garnets set on chequered gold foil. In between three stylised Style I creatures reduced to 'helmet' heads, short double-barred body, and leg bent over back. Encircling this a nicked ridge, and a flat rim with two rows of nielloed triangles. Some niello missing, and whole brooch rather worn.On back usual attachment for (missing) spring-coil and pin (rust adhering suggests iron), catchplate broken.References
