Kentish composite brooch

The brooch is almost certainly the same as shown in Boys 1792, 864 pl. opp. 6., and possibly the Kentish composite disc brooch from 'Tumulus XV' found in 1771, as assumed by Avent 1975 (cat. no. 153). Both the watercolour of SAL MS 99/III/22 and the engraving in Boys 1792 show the centre of the brooch to be plain (probably missing) while the brooch published as the one from 'Tumulus XV' has retained its decorated centre. – B.B.
