Story 1 - Wartime service with the Commandos

This is the story of Kenneth Coutts, as told to his daughter Nicola Feast and recorded by her for his 90th Birthday.

Story 2 - Legal Work on the Adjustment of Liabilities

Douglas Freeman Coutts was a Registrar of the West London County Court. On the outbreak of war, he was seconded from this work the devise and organize (under Sir Austin Jones) the novel system of adjustment of liabilities which proved of such value during wartime. The effect of these measures, e.g. the Liabilities (War-Time Adjustment) Act 1941, was to postpone debtors' liabilities but not to eliminate them.

In addition to this work, he was in command of the 179 Anti-Aircraft Z Battery at Dulwich during the period of flying bomb attacks.
