John Wilfred Banks' Memories

John was in the RAF police in Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve (RAFVR). He joined 21st August 1941, aged thirty-eight. He was stationed in North Africa. He was awarded North Africa Star and Rosette but the medal is lost. He trained at Uxbridge.

He was discharged on 29th September 1944. He was unfit for RAF but fit for civilian employment. He became a groundsman at golf courses. He married but had no children. He never spoke about the war and was very private. He died in 1988.
