John Waddell's Service in Egypt and India and Elizabeth Waddell's RAF Medals

online resource

The contributor brought in objects which belonged to his father-in-law, John Husband. John was in the Black Watch, and he sent the embroidered garment to his mother who lived in Leven. The garment was made in Egypt (possibly Cairo) although John was stationed in Alexandria. See Christmas cards sent back home by John when he was in India.

The contributor's mother-in-law, Elizabeth Waddell, was posted to RAF Benson (in South Oxfordshire), where she worked on the Photographic Reconnaissance Squadrons. Elizabeth's photograph can be seen at the back of the book. See Elizabeth's medals from the war, both full scale and miniature versions.
