Contributor is Sir John Dermot Turing, author and nephew of Alan Turing. His father was John Turing, younger brother of Alan, and born 1 September 1908.

Has a copy of father's illegally-kept war diary from when he was serving/fighting in France,1940.

Later in life, his father (John) wrote his own autobiography: this recorded his school days and his wartime experiences in France, Iraq, North Africa and India (where he spent the last aspect of his war at a desk). He returned to Britain after war's conclusion.

Wartime experiences: his war lasted for 6 years - he began the war as a Private and ended with the rank of Colonel.

1940: platoon commander
1943: company commander (North Africa)
1944/45: part of claims commission (India)
