online resource
posted on 2021-10-27, 15:31 authored by Helena HamerowHelena Hamerow
Sword: length 87cm, width of blade 5cm, but tip of blade and top of tang missing (cf. A.C. VII, pl. XII, extreme left, it had a knob on the pommel). In very poor condition, bubble flaking and extremely fragile. Some trace of scabbard, but little detail visible.X-ray no. 8: certainly pattern-welded, but not clear owing to state of blade. Probably three composite rods in alternate pattern in double assembly.X-ray could not be located in 2006-7. – D.H.
