Iron sword with organic scabbard remains

Sword: length 89cm, but tip of tang missing, and tang broken (35 inches at present, and must have been 35 1/2 in origiinal). Most of scabbard clipped off, but traces to show it was of wood with a hairy lining. Lower guard width 1.3cm, original wood - traces of wood on grip.X-ray no. 7: Pattern welded blade, but X-ray not very clear. Apparently 3 composite rods in alternate pattern and double assembly.X-ray could not be located in 2006-7. – D.H.
