Fragmentary sword. 5 fragments of distorted sword(s) covered in sandy accretion. a) Piece of tang and shoulder: tang still encased in wooden handle: clear impression of lower guard, and on one side fragment of guard still projects beyond blade. It is oval like the metal guards of other swords. X-ray 16b) Two joining pieces of blade: scabbard remains under sand. Show leather above wood. X-ray 15c) Two small pieces of this or another 'sandy' sword.Liv. Mus. note says found in sandpit at Gilton on Mr. Buskell's property, where Faussett and Rolfe both obtained finds.
