Piece of iron shield grip? A very stout iron object consisting of an iron bar split at end into two diverging bars each terminating in lobe with rivet. At junction a stout iron collar binds the top of the V division and apparently went right round. Slight wood remains on back of bar around rivets. It seems unduly thick and heavy for part of a shield grip, but it is difficult to see what else it can be. If it was a shield grip the shield was a curved one.
