Iron shield boss

Damaged boss, height (stud missing) 7cm, diam. c. 15.5cm. Low convex dome, with stud knocked off, slight ridge carination above sloping waist and rather flat flange. Flange badly damaged and only 1 rivet head survives, diam. c. 2cm, flange width a little over 2cm. Repaired in modern times with thick glue and yellow plaster.Mayer card for M 6245 matches this boss (and no other bears the number, i.e. detached), but the attribution to Kingston grave 140 is therefore incorrect. The Mayer cards are not reliable as to provenance.
