Iron purse-mount, length 12.6cm. Rather straight with upturned terminals (both damaged) and in centre top of a small iron buckle. Textile remains on front surface.Catalogue number M 6188 also used for an iron firesteel from Kingston Down, grave 299. The Gatty Slip and the Index card indicate that there were two \Iron handles\" from Kingston Down - one for a box and another for a purse. SCH may have incorrectly assigned this accession number to the Ozengell pursemount.Textiles from this object analysed by Coatsworth & Fitzgerald 2001. They mistakenly attribute the object to Kingston Down grave 299. The textile is identified as thread spun anticlockwise 2/2 twill. \"A fragment of replaced four-shaft twill preserved in two places on an iron object probably a purse mount....\" – D.H."
