Iron crucible (or bell??): towards the knee. Length 6.7cm, dimensions of mouth 5 x 7.5cm. It is a small iron pot, shaped rather like a cow-bell, with wide sub-rectangular mouth narrowing towards bottom. Inside are clear traces of bronze, apparently melted and forming a thin skin on the inside. On the exterior are remains of textile of a coarse twill type. Whether this is a crucible must await expert examination. If it was a bell, no trace remains of clapper or handle, although there are knobs of corrosion at the bottom which may be the remains of rivets.
