Inlaid white-metal pendant

online resource

Black glass cabochon pendant, indamaged silver setting, diam. 1.6cm. The glass stud has a flat back curved edge and domed front, and the front is very battered, possibly by wear. The silver frame consists of a band of sheet metal 5mm wide with its edges tapped over to grip the setting, leaving the back bare: part of this band is broken away, and at the left hand side there is a trace of an overlap. According to Faussett's sketch, the suspension loop was here, though how fixed is not clear. The loop appears to have been of the normal fluted sheet metal.
