Gold pendant with inset intaglio, length with loop 2.3cm. Oval, with domed garnet with flat top cut with intaglio of lion with upcurled tail (probably Late Roman) set on chequered gold foil, and enclosed in a plain collar bordered by three beaded wires (rather rough finished) and with plain gold backplate. The longitudinally grooved loop is clipped over at front and shows signs of having ripped away and been secured by a blob of gold solder, terminates in point at back. A little worn, but not much, gold rather pale coloured. Beading heavily worn.Lab results AuAgCuBack71281Loop64342
