Born 1901. He worked as a chef in Soho. In the last two years of the war, he was a chef to Montgomery serving in both France and Germany.

He joined the Catering Corps and was enlisted from 1943 to 1945. After the war, went back to Soho and retired at the age of 74.

He was selected for the catering corps by the aide de camp, John Henderson an author who wrote "Following Monty". Travelled by train a lot in Europe, milk was often supplied by French farmers in gratitude. Took cigarettes to the relief of a concentration camp. A good linguist, he could speak French German Latin and Greek.

After the war, he worked at the Moulin D'Or and Monty used to come to the restaurant to eat. One of the pictures shows this occasion.
