My Great Grandad (Henry Charles Henshaw) was a soldier in the war. After the war he didn't talk much about his experiences. He joined the Army 24th June 1940 and trained on the Isle of Wight and in Scotland before going to North America in 1942. He was also in the Middle East and Italy. He finished with the Army on the 25th March 1946. His rank was sergeant.

He then started his training in the infantry but still had a position in the medical section of the Army later. He was in the Eastbourne Special Constabulary and had first aid training. He then moved to the medical section of the army as there was a lack of people there. After that, he trained to be a bricklayer and stayed in that profession until 1969 before working as a security officer. He died on 23rd March 1970.
