Harold William Upham in Palestine with the Royal Engineers

The contributor's father was born 15-2-1921. Before the war, he was trying to be a blacksmith. During the war, he was a Royal Engineer and worked in the railway, stationed in Palestine and the Middle East. He was also in the Palestine police. He didn't see much action and didn't speak much about the war.

His mother looked after family during the war; she was a nanny.

The contributor's grandpa was in Ceylon in the 1920s to1930s. He didn't enjoy the experience in a hot country so when people started moving to Spain, they didn't want to go.
