Ash, the 7th of May, 1783 [...]This Tumulus was situated between the lower Mill C, and the higher Mill D [see Fig. 2]. The bones were in some respects perceptible, but crumbled away on the touch. [...] [The beads] towards the west end of the grave near the head. [...] The fibula was found in the center of the beads, and appears to have been connected with the said ornament in the female attire. [...] [The vessel] Found at the feet of the skeleton.

Modern description
Douglas seems to have used the term 'tumulus' for 'grave' rather than 'barrow', assuming that originally graves were always covered by barrows.
