Glass palm cup

online resource
posted on 2021-10-26, 19:44 authored by Helena HamerowHelena Hamerow
Glass ribbed and toed palm cup (Harden Class X,a,i,2). Height 8.3cm, rim diam. 9.2cm. Glass light golden brown with reddish streaks, air bubbles, and pronounced blowing spirals. Rounded rim and base. Blown decoration from same mould as on the companion piece M 6401, but whole glass somewhat 'spread'. Pontil mark on moulded base as before. Unlike the other, this one has trail ornament, wound seven times around rim, and done tightly and smoothly so it is flush with glass wall. More wear on rim of this one, and the glass thinner and more decayed with much iridescence. Cracked.
