Glass claw beaker

Glass claw beaker (Harden Class II,b,2). Now broken, so height and rim diam. unknown. Originally c. 20 - 20.5 cm tall. Surviving part 19.5 cm high. Glass clear olive green, with rather few air bubbles, and quite undecayed. Broken by excavators, but from original sketches, rim slightly everted, and tall and apparently decorated by waving trail and alternating spots(?). From thence at least a sevenfold trail of self-coloured translucent glass wound spirally around neck to just above upper row of claws. Fivefold trail between two tiers of claws, and sevenfold trail, starting at bottom from base upwards. Base very small and unstable, made of thick coiled glass trail wound round. One decorative trail lies over it. Pontil mark on base. Two tiers of three claws in each: one now lost. Of these one upper well-made and hollow throughout, two lower hollow for part of length, and two completely flat and solid. Hook channels quite clear.
