Gatty Slip: Glass bead found on Sibertswold or Barfriston Down, 1772-3. 7/8 in. diam. Inventorium Sepulchrale pl.5 fig. 8.Polychrome bead, diam. 2cm. A ring bead of translucent light blue-green glass. On either side it has a curious marvered trail, a curvaceous zig-zag of opaque yellow and pale blue-green translucent trail, combined in such a way as to produce a pale green zig-zag within the yellow, as if in imitation of the best-known niello pattern. Perhaps running spiral is better description.cf. Inventorium Sepulchrale pl. v. no. 8.The National Museums Liverpool database incorrectly lists pl. 5 fig. 9 for this object. – D.H.
