I would like to share a bound copy of the wartime memories of Frederick Hopley. These are his reminiscences of 1939-1946, which he dictated onto tape in 1990 and were transcribed and edited by Alan Harrison in 2018. Frederick never spoke about the war years to his family but was encouraged to record his memories, and eventually dictated them himself. Frederick was my wife's uncle. He was unmarried and was very close to my wife.

Some of the highlights of his story are:
- He volunteered for the Army Service Corps.
- Went to France and was evacuated out of Dunkirk in 1942.
- Returned for D-Day.
- Came to Bristol to do his junior officer training at Clifton College.
- Served until 1946.
