The contributor brought along a poetry collection that was written in ink pens in the dark evenings of the war. The pictures were cut from magazines. The contributor's grandmother and grandfather were in Weirs Lane, Oxford at the time. The contributor's mother heard these poems as a child. They helped her cope with fear and loneliness.
The contributor also brought along a painting by her grandma's father, William Frederick James Philips, who died during the First World War.
