The British Commonwealth Flight Training Program set up EFTS#20 at the Oshawa Airport for Tiger Moths.

Adelaide and Sam McLaughlin of Oshawa (Sam is founding president of General Motors of Canada) would host evening events at their home, Parkwood for the airmen at the Estate. These events would include social activities like singing and nibbles.

These evenings continued throughout the war years.
